Originally launched back in April of 2012 on Xbox Live Arcade, Fez is a 2D platformer with puzzle elements that hinge around being able to rotate the game world in 3D.

The player guides a frog which starts at the bottom of the screen, to his home in one of 5 slots at the top of the screen. The lower half of the screen contains a road with, which in various versions include, and, speeding along it horizontally. The upper half of the screen consists of a river with logs, and, all moving horizontally across the screen. The very top of the screen contains five 'frog homes' which are the destinations for each frog.

Every level is timed (30 seconds); the player must finish the level before the time expires. The only player control is the 4 direction used to navigate the frog; each push in a direction causes the frog to hop once in that direction. On the bottom half of the screen, the player must guide the frog between opposing lanes of trucks, cars, and other vehicles, to avoid becoming. The middle of the screen, after the road, contains a where the player must prepare to navigate the river. By jumping on swiftly moving logs and the backs of turtles and alligators except the alligator jaws, the player can guide their frog safely to one of the empty lily pads.

The player must avoid sticking out at one of the five 'frog homes', and in the river, but may catch or escort a lady frog for bonuses. When all five frogs are directed home, the game progresses to the next level, with increased difficulty. After five levels, the game gets briefly easier yet again gets progressively harder to the next fifth level.

When I got the update, I was very excited to see what changed. I was disappointed to find that they removed almost all of the features that made the game fun. I loved earning achievements and getting quests because I had a goal.

The catalog also made it easier to find frogs that were important. Now that those features are gone, there is almost no point to the game. The pond movements are jerky and unsettling, and the transitions between scenes are slow.

The frogs are also too close together in the habitat screen, it’s harder to tell one from another when they are similar colors/breeds. It makes me sad that I will probably never play this game again after spending so much time on it. This app would have easily been five stars if the update did not ruin it. Hopefully these features will be added once again in the next update, but until then, Pocket Frogs is two stars. By My puzzle I don't think anyone is reading any of these reviews or some update would have taken place. I'm adding my thoughts to the group anyway. I also have been playing this game for years (level 66, 85% collected).

Every time I touch the Froggydex button, I crash, have to wait to restart, wait for nurseries to show up and go to Froggydex from there, crash again and start again. Maybe I can get there this time. The Froggydex used to stay where you left it, not now. Now you have to scroll from the very first all the way to where you want to go. Not too bad if you are just starting out, but a real chore when you are at the end of the Froggydex list.

The fast scroll is great if you want to go to the bottom, but go slow if you want to stop somewhere in the list. The scroll is so sensitive that you are on a sub, sub species before you even move your finger. When in the pond, there is a time lag between your frog jumping and when it actually does. The fly is gone when you finally jump. Scrolling through the nursery levels is difficult.

You have to go very slow or you end up at the bottom and have to go back up. Adversely, when you are breeding, you have to wait seconds before you can breed again. I'm giving this a two star rating only because I am still playing. If not for that, it would rate a zero. By InvaderZimKitty This game is fun, but since the update there's been a few changes that I am just not on board for, as well as several bugs that straight up break the game if accessed too much. For starters, please bring back the mini games, or at the very least the racing game.

It made getting new breeds of frogs easy, considering you just needed to capture one in the pond and then race it against others in the same rarity category to win the rest. Also, it would be nice if the Froggydex stayed where you left off like before. I've been slowly making my way through it to 100 percent each frog, and scrolling down each time to see if I've bred the right one or not is really unnecessary. In the way of bugs, moving frogs/items/habitats (at least in my current version) runs the risk of crashing the game every time I try. One accidental double tap of my finger is all it takes to confuse the app, and it makes accessing the menu or other habitats incredibly difficult. Also, the pond is a glitchy mess, with the frogs jumping haphazardly from one lily pad to the next, sailing past flies as if they weren't there to begin with. I love this app and really don't wanna get rid of it, but please polish up a couple of things in the next update.
